From designing with virgin raw materials to designing with recyclate
For the past 5 years, I was a cartel leader to develop standard consumer products together with major brands ( Unilever, IKEA, Ahold, among others), in which we replace virgin raw materials with recyclate.
These are long and challenging projects that require more than just knowledge about materials, sourcing, laws and regulations, branding and product development.
Working with others in the chain and in a different way, persevering and coming up with creative solutions are key. And my strengths.
From business-as-usual to re-use, closed-loop and take-back business models
We will start to see waste as a source of valuable raw materials. Because raw materials are becoming scarcer, laws are prescribing more sustainable use and because they are becoming much more expensive. By 2050, Europe must be fully circulair.
I have experience with re-use, closed-loop and take-back business models. Thanks to my experience with these new approaches, I see that these models offer so much more than just more sustainable use of raw materials. They lead for example to higher customer satisfaction and more data.
From ignorance and negativity to inspiration and action
I give in-house presentations, workshops and inspirational sessions. People are willing to change, but lack the knowledge and insights how and where to start.
I offer a customer-specific, very informative approach. This often helps employees overcome the hurdles of taking action, because they have a clearer view of the possibilities.

I was the driving force behind Plastic Recycling Amsterdam for 5 years. A facility that recycles Dutch household waste. Besides continuously improving the operation and together trying to realize what the market was asking for, I worked there particularly on closing the whole value chain by working more together.
Before that, I spent 5 years developing the global bottom ash market. This gave me a broad network and a lot of waste expertise.

I was the key player in the realizing of the innovative PET tray-to-tray recycling. This led to a unique collaboration between the retailer Ahold, the packer Hordijk and the recycler Umincorp. A complex project, but everyone praised my perseverance. Exactly a challenge that suits me!
